C-max 2012. My car displayed the engine malfunction, service now 2 weeks ago, 3 miles from home. I was only doing a short trip and when I returned to the car the message had gone. A week later it happened again and went in to limp mode. I took it for a diagnostic check and it showed no faults and no faults stored.

On the 1.6 TDCI, their failure usually shows the 'Engine Malfunction' message on the dash, but not the engine light. After it's happened once, usually it'll happen again within the next few days. The dash panel says Engine Malfunction and the ESP indicator comes on solid. If I turn the ignition off for a few seconds, and restart, it is fine again- sometimes for all day- and sometimes for only a few minutes. I have had it on the computer and there are no engine fault codes coming up at all.
