With my main account, I tested it with 3 chars per day chest was always there able to open. With 2nd account, it works only once. Maybe it's related to some hidden achievement or something.

Normally, when you give gold to your guild, it's to be used by the guild, i.e. it's not your gold anymore but the guild's. This is the same whether the guild has 500 members or just one.
